What To Consider When Choosing A Contractor

Remodeling your home can be one of the most exciting things you will ever do.  It can also be very expensive and stressful.  One of the most important things you can do when choosing a contractor is to be comfortable with this person.  They will be in your home on a daily basis.  You will work closely with them throughout the entire renovation process. It is SO important that your contractor is a good communicator, great multi-tasker and a problem solver. Do your homework by checking references, checking reviews and ask if you can go see some of their work.  Make sure they are licensed, bonded and insured.

With the current construction climate in Nashville and surrounding areas, we would recommend that you start looking for a contractor months prior to you wanting to start your project.

TN Contractor License Number: 53474 Insured and bonded

Remodeling Contractor vs. Home Builder

A Remodeling Contractor is very different than a home builder.  Many home builders are getting in to remodeling because of the economic market.  Remodeling entails blending old materials with new materials, old codes with current codes compliance, settled and un-leveled walls and floors with new construction and converting old floor-plans into new, open floor-plans.

Remodeling contractors must know how to deal with homeowners who are living in their home during construction. The subcontractors that they use should be familiar with working in homes that are occupied. This means that they should tarp and cover belongings and clean up on a daily basis.  If you have ever seen a new construction site, you know that is not the case.
